Superintendent Mack C. Mason

Pastor Mack Carneil Mason was born August 5, 1959 in Chicago, IL.  His spiritual nurture and faith in Jesus Christ began under the pastorate of his late grandparents Bishop John O. Mason and Mrs. Beatrice Mason at Prayer Garden Church of God in Christ.  His mother Mrs. Esther M. Davis has served at the church organist for sixty years.  As a child, he sang with his siblings at The Mason Specials.  He later sang in the Prayer Garden Youth Choir under Mrs. Marzella Howard and in the Choral Ensemble and combined choirs under Madame Dolores Diggs.  He also sang in the Northern Illinois State Choir under the direct of State Minister of Music, the late Dr. Naomi Jackson Goodwin.

Broadcaster / Voice Talent
In 1976, Mack began broadcasting at the age of 16 over Chicago’s WXFM, and in 1977 he was first to program gospel music over WGCI FM 107.5.  For many years his voice was heard on radio across the United States and Canada on the nightly Midnight Gospel Broadcast with Pastor Maceo L. Woods. 

Television credits include appearances and voice overs on Gospel City Videos with Billy Carson, the Broadcast Ministers Alliance Presents – Rev. Clay Evans, President and host Archbishop Lucius Hall, and a musical appearance on the TCT Network’s nightly I’m Just Saying’ with Pastor Dan Willis.  Pastor Mason was heard around the world on the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) Radio Documentary, Shout Sister Shout:  The Rosetta Tharpe Story, and also appears in the soon to be released documentary film about Bishop William Matthew Roberts.  In 2009, he was panelist speaking on COGIC history and its influence on the Chicago School of Gospel at Bobby Jones’ Gospel Complex located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and host of the 2010 Trade Symposium.

Author / Publisher
Pastor Mason is the author of several books, including Saints in the Land of Lincoln, Holding On from the Inside Out, Bishop John O. Mason on Heaven’s Railway, and his latest Barack Obama Commander in Speech.  His bestselling title is Make Room for the Holy Ghost was released in conjunction with the keynote address at the C.H. Mason Historical Society’s celebration of the Azusa Street Revival Centennial in 2006.  In addition to his own literary works, he has not published more than Twenty-five authors through his Chicago based company, Faithday Press.

Gospel Preacher
In 1988, Pastor Mason was licensed to preach by the late Pastor Henry L. Smith.  Since his ordination in 1989 by the late Bishop Isaiah Leon Roberts, prelate of the Northern Illinois Jurisdiction, he has been blessed to several Holy Cross COGIC, Resurrection COGIC, Saints Memorial Tabernacle COGIC, and Faith Family Fellowship COGIC.   He has ministered across the nation in such churches at Temple COGIC founded by Bishop C. H. Mason in Memphis, TN; First COGIC of Staten Island, NY founded by Bishop F. D. Washington; West Angeles COGIC in Los Angeles, CA pastored by Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr. and others.  In 2011, Pastor Mason served as Co-Chairman of Chicago Salutes Roberts Temple Church of God in Christ, and was also honored to preach during the 95th Year Anniversary of Roberts Temple.

Pastor Mason has conducted overseas crusades in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in 2000 and 2001, preaching in the cities of St. James, Cocorite, Arima and the Capital city – Port of Spain.

Pastor Mason currently serves under Bishop Cody Vernon Marshall in the historic Northern Illinois Jurisdiction as a Vice Preside of the State Missions Department and also as a member of the State Ordination Board.

Pastor Mason has also received two appointments from Presiding Bishop Charles Edward Blake, Sr., to the COGIC National Publishing Board in 2009 and in 2010 as International President of the Charles Harrison Mason Historical Society.

In 2011 Pastor Mason was among the five honorees at the COGIC Education Day Luncheon during the 104th Holy Convocation in St. Louis, MO.  During the 2012 General Assembly in Memphis, TN, he was nominated to serve on the Doctrinal Review Committee by Chairman of the General Assembly Elder James Hunt, but respectfully declined.

Husband / Family Man
Pastor Mason is happily married to Lady Traci Mason.  

Pastor Mack Mason is a farther, and also the proud grandfather of two boys, Christopher Owen Samuels Mason and Andrew Carneil Mason.

On April 21, 2012, Pastor Mack C. Mason was appointed at the tenth pastor of the Greater Prayer Garden Church of God in Christ by Bishop Cody Vernon Marshall, Jurisdictional Prelate of Northern Illinois.
